It was over a year ago when Amazon introduced Echo, and even though it looks like a Bluetooth-enabled speaker, it is much more than that. It does play streaming music, but it actually houses Amazon’s intelligent digital personal assistant Alexa inside, making the Echo a very useful product. In fact, now it will help you with your workouts.
Over the past year Amazon has added more and more features to Echo, so today it’s much more capable. The new fitness feature will let you ask Alexa to start a seven-minute workout.
A third-party inclusion enables Alexa to provide “a set of excercises designed to increase metabolism, improve energy, lower stress, and remove fat,” according to Amazon. Could it really be helpful? Or is it just an encouragement that you can ignore? That remains to be seen. Most will not use it more than once I’d wager.
Another new feature is Ask Fidelity, which allows you to ask about stock quotes by ticker symbol or name, Alexa will then return the information allowing you to catch up with the markets when you need it. This feature should be useful to those who play the market. If you also workout then this device has your name all over it now. Interested?
