Amazon launched the first Echo speaker about a year ago. This Bluetooth speaker was different because it’s powered by Alexa, Amazon’s digital personal assistant. Alexa can accomplish thousands of tasks with simple voice commands. Amazon has expanded the Echo line since then, but if you still have not purchased one ahead of the holidays, I’m afraid you’re out of luck.
They are sold out.
All three Echo products, the Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Tap, are all sold out on Amazon. All of the products are listed as out of stock. The online store page mentions that they won’t be back in stock until after Christmas, so if you were planning to buy one as a gift for someone, you have to get them something else. The standard black Amazon Echo may not be back in stock until January 19th! That’s quite a wait.
The company also sells the Echo through some retailers like Lowes and Best Buy too. The problem is that most of their locations have sold out of the Echo as well. Amazon tells The Wall Street Journal that “Due to demand, we encourage customers to purchase an Echo if they see it available”. That seems unlikely.
