Amazon is reportedly sending out free samples to its customers. These samples are based on their buying habits and history. It makes sense since the company has a lot of data on it’s users. Amazon is one of the top online retail marketplaces in the world for a reason. It seems like a good move. This is a pilot program but we don’t know how long it has been in operation and if it will evolve into a bigger part of Amazon’s overall strategy.
Amazon has partnerships with select brands and this team up is resulting in customers being sent the free samples. They hope that this will compel them to make an extra purchase on Amazon.
The earliest posts of Amazon customers receiving free samples in the mail date back to August 2018, but there’s not a lot of information available about the program. It’s free to participate in this program and customers are free to opt out at anytime.
“It’s like Amazon’s product recommendations, but real, so you can try, smell, feel, and taste the latest products,” the website says. Amazon hasn’t confirmed or denied if this sampling program will become a bigger part of its marketing strategy. It will be interesting to see where they take this.
