The iconic Mario franchise might be up for a reboot next year. I guess they feel that a change is due. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted that Nintendo could unveil a “new kind of Mario” at the E3 gaming convention next year.
Fans are sure to be excited about the news, but they are going to have to wait to find out more information. It doesn’t look like Nintendo is going to talk about this new Mario before next year. Apparently everything is in the very early stages. Mario fans have reason to be excited.
“We’re always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you’ll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two,” said Shigeru Miyamoto, adding that the company will be able to share something about this new Mario at E3 2017.
We have no idea what this new Mario might be about or how it might be new, but Miyamoto acknowledges that there are certain elements to a Mario game that make it a bit hard to refresh the entire franchise. But since Nintendo is hiring new staff, the company will have plenty of people to help with the project. Aside from a new Mario, the company is also expected to launch its next-generation NX console in 2017.
