If you own a recent model of the Toyota Prius, you need to pay attention. Toyota has recalled 92,000 Prius hybrids in the United States due to faulty parking brakes.
The recall has been initiated to eliminate any possibility of bodily injury or harm in a rollaway scenario. Recalling these models will make sure that Toyota customers are not put in harm’s way by their cars.
This recall covers 92,000 units of the 2016 and 2017 Prius hybrids in the United States. Toyota has also recalled an additional 210,000 units in Japan because of the very same issue. But it doesn’t end there. Thousands of units have been recalled in Europe, Australia, and some other markets too. The recalled cars were produced between August 2015 and October 2016. So if that is your car, you will want to take it to the Toyota dealership.
The faulty parking brake may stop working. If this happens, a car that’s not in Park gear might roll away. A car rolling away on its own is a huge problem. Toyota is recalling the cars to fix the issue, but we don’t know the cause of the failure. Just take it in to the dealership and they will fix the issue completely.
