Rockstar knows a thing or two about successful video games. Grand Theft Auto is one of them.
The game started out as a top-down 2D game about stealing cars and completing missions, but it has become so much more over the years. It has evolved into a beautiful 3D third-person game that is loved by millions.
The latest installment, Grand Theft Auto V, was released about 3 years ago, and according to Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two’s earnings, it looks like they have shipped 75 million copies of the game to date. Note that shipped does not necessarily represent sales. Still, that is an amazing number.
The game did earn Rockstar $1 billion within the first 3 days of it going on sale, so it’s safe to say that the company has sold many copies and obviously it is a very, very successful title. That number is sure to grow. It says a lot that Rockstar is able to keep gamers interested and playing the game with constant updates. Who knows what the future holds for the series. One thing is certain. They know how to make games that people want to play. And play. And play. Good job Rockstar. Hopefully they have another big GTA game coming soon.
