Instagram, the photo-minded social network is now boasting about reaching another milestone. They are celebrating hitting 700 million users.
In fact, 100 million folks started using the app within the last four months alone. The last time Instagram gained 100 million new users it took six months to do so, so that is very impressive indeed.
The social network says that the evaporating Stories feature is at least partially responsible for this sudden upturn in users and has them sticking around. Pretty interesting for an app that’s still primarily mobile-only. If this pace were to keep up, Instagram could become the second social network to hit a billion users, behind parent company Facebook. This is pretty big news for the social network. It will be interesting to see where the numbers go from here. Can they keep up the pace? Only time will tell. And we will report the news if it does hit that milestone.
Just for comparison, Twitter just released its report on users and the results aren’t nearly as great. The microblogging service increased its numbers a little bit, bumping from between 310 – 320 million up to 328 million. That’s a lot sure, but not anywhere near Instagram’s numbers. Instagram has them beat.
