We’ve said it before, people will go to great lengths to get or make money from Apple’s iPad. Last year, a boy in China sold his kidney to buy an iPad 2. He used the 20,000 yuan, about $3,085, that he received from the illegal operation, on an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4.
The boy soon fell ill and the people involved in the operation were ordered to appear in court. Now the Beihu District People’s Court in Chenzhou City sentenced seven out of the nine defendants to prison. Song Zhongyu, the surgeon, and He Wei, the agent who arranged the operation, were sentenced to prison for three years and five years.
Zhongyu received 52,000 yuan and Wei earned 56,360 yuan. The other seven people involved received their own shares of the transaction.
