Snapchat recently turned down as much as a $4 billion offer from Google. That’s pretty good when you consider that the company received financing earlier this year at a valuation rate of $800 million. Snapchat is a messaging app where the messages disappear in 10 seconds leaving no trace that they were ever sent.
According to Snapchat’s founder and CEO Evan Spiegel, 400 million “snaps” are sent out each day, even though the company has yet to produce any revenue at all. Spiegel however is in no rush to monetize the app saying, “There are a lot of things in our product that make it appealing for advertisers, but we want to do it right.” That is only logical. You move too fast and all you do is end up making users mad about something you rushed.
Spiegel says that 70% of Snapchat users are women and that half of Snapchat’s members have tried out “Stories,” a way to link together multiple messages. I hear you. What about Windows Phone users who don’t have Snapchat available for their phone, can now install 6snap from the Windows Phone Store. Developed by Rudy Huyn, who developed popular third?
Well, 6snap brings many of the same features available on Snapchat including “Stories”.There is also Live Tile support. It’s the best you get until snapchat releases for Windows Phone. Who knows when that will be.
