You have to be careful when making friends on the internet, especially when it comes to your kids. A 13-year old boy from Karachi, Pakistan was recently the victim of kidnapping, when the kidnappers posed as an online gaming friend who then persuaded the boy to meet up in real life.
The boy was kidnapped and held for a ransom of $500,000. Thankfully, police used mobile phone records to track the kidnappers and rescued him. The boy’s mom was happy to get her son back, and wants parents to understand that they need to supervise their kids when using social media.
I think this is a good reminder for everyone that the internet isn’t all luls and puppy videos.
