Interested in getting Google Glass for yourself? Well, Google has confirmed plans to offer Google Glass to the general public in the US on Tuesday, April 15th. Tax day. Well, if you have a refund coming, this might be a good way to spend it. Until now it has been invitation only, but now everyone else can have a chance to wear some Google specs.
The promotion will be for “a limited number of spots” in the Glass Explorer Program, though Google doesn’t say exactly how many units it has. The price is $1,500 with tax. Word of the plan leaked yesterday when some documentation describing the proposed process emerged from the company. Hopefully they have enough that it doesn’t upset too many people when they get left out.
The April 15th offer will include not only Glass but also one of the new shades or frames from Google’s Titanium Collection. You might remember that the frames were announced earlier this year and are compatible with prescription lenses. Just be aware that the $1,500 price doesn’t include custom lenses. Anyway, now is your chance
Sales will begin on 6am PDT on Tuesday next week, but Google is inviting people to sign up in advance since space is limited. Non-US folks will have to wait unfortunately.
