Any parent who has a sick infant knows that the last thing you want to do when they finally fall asleep is wake them up to check their temperature. Yet, you often end up having to do just that every few hours to be sure their temperature is under control.
A new thermometer has turned up on Kickstarter that should keep you from ever having to wake your baby again. It’s called Wishbone and it is a contactless thermometer that plugs into your smartphone and works in conjunction with an app. The device connects to Android and iOS smartphones via the headphone port.
It will track body temperature, ambient temperature in a room, and the temperature of liquids. That means you can check if the formula is the right temperature without putting it on your arm. The app can even keep a record of temperature readings so you can easily compare them over time and share them with the doctor. Wishbone was seeking $20,000 and has raised over $50,000 with 28 days to go. A pledge of $33 or more will get you a Wishbone and the needed app. Shipping is expected in April 2015.
