Ever been on a plane and seen an attractive passenger? You might have thought to yourself, wouldn’t it be neat if I could just go up to that person and just say hi? But maybe you are shy in that situation. Chatting up random strangers without can be seen as creepy.
That’s probably why Buzzfeed copywriter, Gabe Whaley, created an app called Wingman. Whaley in an interview said, “I’m pretty sure that at some point, anyone who’s flown has had a thought like, ‘I wonder what it would be like to talk to that person. Too bad it’s never going to happen, because the seating arrangement didn’t provide for that.’”
The app pulls profiles from people near you, or in this case people on the same flight as you. Chances of people using the app on the same flight as you might be pretty slim, but the numbers will certainly grow. If nothing else, it could be a great way to pass the time. The app uses either WiFi or Bluetooth to work. Wingman has not yet been approved by Apple, but they are working on that. Long flights don’t have to be so lonely now. You have a wingman.
