Sucks to own a Wii U right now. The consoles poor sales won’t get better until they release games that people want to play on the console. The upcoming Pokemon: Rumble U will surely help sales in both hardware and software, but third-party publishers are still choosing to pass on the Wii U. And that is a problem.
Dead Island: Riptide won’t be hitting the Wii U, like many hot games. The recently announced Saints Row 4 will also pass on the Wii U.
Both games could have used the Wii U GamePad to do some interesting new things, but Deep Silver decided to pass. Deep Silver says the decision came down to balancing improvements to the game engine against carrying out the port for a new platform. They decided more time spent producing a game for platforms they already supported (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) was better than supporting Nintendo’s hardware. You can’t blame them, but it doesn’t bode well for the Wii U’s future. They need killer games.
