In yet another example of large corporations/government forcing other companies to give up info on their users, Twitter has been in a showdown with Manhattan’s Criminal Court. The issue is a demand to hand over tweets from Occupy Wall Street protestor Malcolm Harris.
To their credit(in this case) the social network had to be pushed into delivering the claimed evidence, even as they faced a deadline and the threat of a fine. It even tried one last request for a stay before producing hard copies of the messages.
The message here is that you can’t trust any company to keep your updates private. They can all be made to turn over your info.Filed Under: Technology News
