TSA removes X-ray body scanners from major airports

According to ProPublica, the TSA is removing the X-ray body scanners currently installed at major airports. You know the ones that everyone is complaining about. They are replacing them with safer millimeter wave scanners. (Although they have said time and again that they are safe to begin with)

The new scanners will zap you with less radiation and should speed up your time at security checkpoints. Maybe it will mean less groping and touching of your junk too. They display a generic cartoon of a body so that travelers fell less threatened as well, because nobody wants their junk shown off in public.

They’re already installed at LAX, O’Hare, Dulles and JFK. The new scanners could cost up to $245 million, and the old scanners were pretty expensive as well.
