The Poor Mans Netbook
An ebay seller by the name of ‘brotato’ has created what he is calling ‘The Poor Mans Netbook’, using a large briefcase and various components.
In the large briefcase there is an Intel D945GCLF2 Dual Core 1.6GHZ Atom Motherboard, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth and a 14.2 inch LCD display and a keyboard.
It doesn’t have a battery, so that hardly makes it portable, it is currently up for auction on ebay with a bid of $305.

That, sir, is NOT a Netbook. It is a Notebook, albeit a notebook with a sh!tty processor.

No Sir, you are a whackadoo. Albeit a sh!tty smelly one.

No sir, you obviously don’t know what albeit means.
But on the matter at hand, why have a non-portable ‘netbook’ that’s worth about half of the price it’s at?

That completely missed the point of netbooks. It’s barely portable, requires you to know something about computer hardware, and is probably pretty expensive.

OH HAY GUISE! Let’s all look at this rather sh!tty looking net/note/sh!tbook and say how crap it is compared to existing products!?
Also?, Let’s also COMPLETELY DisREGARD the fact that this is simply a guy who is making a rather humorous statement on the the current status of computer design!?!??
This sh#t is awesome, f##k you all who say it isn’t, because you’re wrong.

This would be really useful if you were transferred back in time to the 60’s and wanted to carry your netbook around incognito.
You’d just need to wait for Tim Berners Lee to get his brain going before you could sell it on eBay though.

I was worried about how the owner would be able to load up DVDs, as the case block off the drive. It would be so disappointing on Christmas morning.
But I figured it out. There were no DVD’s in the 60’s.
I also figured out that Kilgore Trout is the man to assist me with the time travel… good link eh? (in fact, it’s a hyperlink in a way, although not a TBL one.)

Nothing earth shaking… but cool idea nonetheless. Being that it has no battery, not a high bar to reach. Going to make one myself, but try to get a brief case that will be high enough to support at least half-height peripherals, or none since most MB’s have on-board everything… but allowing it to take peripherals would make it more versatile.

It is a great idea. I guess it could have been made much better.
Better processor. Smaller CPU. Small laptop keybord.
If designed properly it could be a kick ass gaming PC that would be portable (by this i mean close the case shove in a trunk of car. Quick and easy to set up.

I believe it is an interesting piece of equipment. Looks like it came from one of those CSI-type shows. I love technology and this interests me that people will invent the most unusual things. Even if it is more expensive it does look like a poor mans netbook/notebook. I would make one myself if I had the time.
