Nokia’s Mobile Division To be Renamed Microsoft Mobile Oy

The Nokia and Microsoft deal is expected to be finalized later this month, and Microsoft will take over Nokia’s mobile phone division and also the Lumia brand.

According to a recent report , Nokia’s mobile division, which is currently called Nokia Oy, will be renamed to Microsoft Mobile Oy, the news comes in a letter than was sent out to partners of Nokia Oy.

Pebble Smartwatch May Get Windows Phone Support (Rumor)

The Pebble Smartwatch currently supports Apple’s iOS and Google Android platforms, although it would appear that someone at Microsoft is working on a Windows Phone App to bring Windows Phone support to the Pebble.

There is nothing official from Microsoft on this yet, although one Microsoft engineer has said that he is going to explore the possibility of working with Pebble.

Microsoft recently released the Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview, and now Microsoft has announced that it is accepting app submissions for Windows Phone 8.1 applications from developers.

Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 To Bring Support for 2K Resolution

Microsoft released their latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system at the Build 2014 conference, and is expected to hit the existing devices in the coming months.

Earlier, it was revealed the operating system will get two GDR updates this year, GDR1 and GDR 2, which will be released in the second half of the year. According to a new report, the new Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 Update will bring support for 2K resolutions for Windows Phone handsets.

Windows Phone 8.1 Supports Apple Passbook Data

Yesterday Microsoft released the Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview, and Tom Warren from The Verge has discovered something interesting in Windows Phone 8.1.

It would appear that Windows Phone 8.1 supports Apple’s Passbook data through Microsoft Wallet, and passbook items can apparently be used with Windows Phone.

More Nokia Devices Codenames Leaked

Nokia had a pretty decent start of the year. Back in February at the Mobile World Congress 2014, the Finns launched their first AOSP based Nokia X handset, followed by a trio of handsets running Windows Phone 8.1 at Build 2014.

If you think Nokia is done with handsets for some time, think again. According to @evleaks, Nokia is working on eight more devices codenamed Ara, Leo, Moonraker, Onyx, Peridot, Superman, Tesla, and Vantage.
