Maingear has launched a new range of PCs, called the Maingear Shift, which they call the ‘personal supercomputer that redefines computing performance, design and support’.
The Maingear SHIFT harnesses the power of graphics processing units (GPU) and is designed to speed up everyday tasks like video and photo editing.
Ericsson has shown off an interesting PC design at the Taiwan Broadband Show, the Ericsson Spider PC Concept.
The Spider PC concept is Ericsson’s vision for portable computers of the future, it uses a pico projector to project a screen onto the wall, and a laser projector to project a keyboard onto your desk.

Details have been leaked of a new all in one PC from Lenovo, the Lenovo ThinkCentre All In One PC which is designed for business users.

Dell has added a new tablet PC to its range with the launch of the Dell XT2 XFR Multi-Touch Rugged Tablet PC.

Intels enterprise-grade reange of solid state hard disk drives as received an important firmware upgrade which now adds support for the “Trim” feature on Windows 7. Trim as well as increasing the speed of data transfer will also cut down on the amount of data to be deleted, increasing the SSD’s lifespan and allowing it to delete garbage data in advance. It also uses ATA commands to increase the SSD write speeds.

In a bid to beat Moore’s law (which states number of transistors on a chip doubles every two years) chip manufactures are trying to either increase clock speeds or add more processors.
To help ease the pain of upgrading to their new Windows 7 operating system Microsoft has released a neat Windows 7 USB installer. The utility, Windows 7 USB Download Tool, creates a bootable flash drive from a downloaded .iso file, or disk image, of Windows 7, and can be purchased from Microsoft’s online store.
Acer has launched a new Eco-friendly monitor, the Acer S243Lbmi 24 Inch LCD Monitor.
The Acer S243Lbmi is a 24 inch LCD monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and it uses just 17.2w of power due to the use of LED technology.
HP has launched a new monitor which has been designed for Windows 7, the HP Compaq L2105tm.
The HP Compaq L2105tm is the first Windows 7 certified monitor, the 21.5 inch monitor features optical touch technology which includes two cameras, a sensor and an infrared light, together with a reflective film.
