Quake 3 Ported To Motorola Droid

Some clever programmers  have managed to port Quake 3 onto the Motorola Droid. The port was done by a developer called Thuderbird2K who spent a day compiling and loading the main function, and got Open GL working to create kwaak3 which is a full port of Quake III for Android.

You can see the ported Quake III working on a Motorola Droid in then video below, and the game is running at around 30 to 40 frames per second on the Droid.

Windows 7 Phone To Come In Three Different Chassis Designs

Microsoft [MSFT] will be making Windows 7 Phone Series available on three different chassis designs. The first of these will be called Chassis-1 and these phones will be large touch screen devices that feature a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

The next design is called Chassis-2, these sorts of devices will be similar to the Palm Treo devices and will feature a built in keyboard under the screen, and Microsoft has specified that certain aspect ratios will have to be used for these devices.

Recognizr Android App Uses Facial Recognition To Identify People

A company called The Astonishing Tribe are in the process of developing an application for the Google Android person, that will tell you who someone is by you pointing your mobile phone at them.

The application prototype uses a 3D model to recognize facial features, it then searches its server to find a match, once a match is found it the superimposes that persons social networking details around his or her face, check out the video of it in action below.

Researches have developed rootkits to demonstrate how easy it is to hack modern day smart phones and send invisible text messages to rootkitted phones allowing the hacker  to place outgoing calls without the user knowing.

T-Mobile are launching a new Google Android smartphone in Europe, the T-Mobile Pulse Mini. The Pulse Mini is designed to be a budget Android smartphone and it will come with Google Android 2.1.

The Pulse Mini will be available on a pre-paid or pay as you go contract, and it is going to cost just £99.99 about $155, which doesn’t sound to bad considering you don’t have to sign up to a monthly contract.
