Bing Adds Personalized Cards On Its Homepage

Microsoft has been working pretty hard in the past few months. Recently, at the Build 2014 conference, the Redmond-based company released their latest Windows Phone 8.1, which comes with a voice-assistant Cortana — similar to Google Now and Siri.

Now, Microsoft has made some changes to Bing search engine, and added personalized cards on the homepage to help you keep track of interesting things.

Major Windows 8.1 Update Now Available For Free

As expected Microsoft released a new major Windows 8.1 update for users of its operating system, and has also now brought to an end support for its ageing Windows XP operating system.

New Xbox One Controller Firmware Update Being Prepared By Microsoft

Last month Microsoft rolled out a new update to their Xbox One next-generation games console, which brought with it a number of new enhancements for the Xbox One controller, in preparation for the launch of the new Titanfall game which also launched early in March 2014 for Xbox One and PC.

Now reports are surfacing that Microsoft is developing yet another update for its Xbox One console that will include yet another “new controller firmware” bringing further enhancements to the controller and Xbox console.

Microsoft has this week unveiled details of a new bundle it has put together to entice consumers to purchase their Microsoft Surface Pro 2, which they have aptly named the ‘Geek’ bundle.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update Rolling Out April 8th

During their BUILD conference this week Microsoft has announced that they will be rolling out a new Windows 8.1 update on April 8th for their operating system that will bring with it a number of enhancements for mice and keyboard’s.

The new Windows 8.1 update will bring with it enhancements that will automatically be able to detect what device Windows 8.1 is running on. For instance if it recognises a tablet device then the Metro touch interface mode will be launched.

Windows Start Menu Returning Announces Microsoft

When Microsoft removed the Start Button and Start Menu from their latest Windows 8 operating system it caused quite a backlash from Windows users who considered the removal of the Windows Start button a mistake.

However now after millions of Windows users have requested Microsoft replace the Windows Start button, Microsoft has today announced at its Build conference that it will be doing just that and re-instating the old Start Menu for Windows users to enjoy once again.

Microsoft Windows Free For Mobile Devices With Screens Smaller Than 9 Inches

Microsoft has today announced that they are making their mobile Windows operating system free for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets with screens at are 9 inches or less in size.

The new Windows free version is already now available for smartphone and tablet manufacturers but are developing mobile devices with screens 9 inches or smaller.

Xbox One SmartGlass Beta App Now Available For Android, Windows 8 and Windows Phone

Microsoft has this week released a new separate version of its Xbox One SmartGlass application as a beta development stage release.

Now in addition to both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One currently available SmartGlass, Microsoft has now made available a separate beta build of the Xbox One app for Android, Windows 8 and Windows Phone users.

Microsoft Annoucnes Phil Spencer As New Head of Xbox

Microsoft has today announced that Phil Spencer will be a new Head of Xbox and responsible for leading the development of the Xbox, Xbox Live, and creative teams including Xbox Music, Xbox Video and Microsoft Studios.

It will be interesting to see what Spencer does over the coming months and years to keep the Xbox One console on track and develop new technologies to compete with Sony’s Project Morpheus virtual reality headset and also the new threat from Facebook after they acquired the innovative Oculus Rift headset for $2 billion earlier this month.

Office for iPad Update To Get Printing Support In Future

Recently, Microsoft unveiled Office for iPad, Android and iPhone at its cloud event a few days back. The new Office for iPad includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

All Office for iPad apps work great, but unlike Office for Windows, Office for iPad lacks the ability to print documents, spreadsheets or presentation from within the app, but it seems it will get it in the future update.

Kinect For Windows v2 Hardware Unveiled By Microsoft

Microsoft has this week published new images of its latest Kinect for Windows v2 gesture control sensor, allowing us for the first time to see the new hardware that will be made available later this year.

The new Kinect for Windows v2 is similar in design to that of the Kinect features control hardware that comes bundled with the next generation Xbox One console, with the exception of the words Kinect printed on the top left of the hardware for the Kinect for Windows version.
