Introduction To Linux Course Worth $2,400 To Be Free Online This Summer

The Linux Foundation announced this week that the course “Introduction to Linux” worth around $2,400 will be made freely available online to anyone who is interested during the summer months.

The Linux Foundation is working with edX a non-profit online learning website which is governed by Harvard and MIT to make the course free to all and is now accepting sign-ups with no limit on members.

Ubuntu Smartphones Launching Next Year Reveals Founder Mark Shuttleworth

It has been announced this week that Canonical has now entered into a deal with its first smartphone provider who will start creating smartphones with Ubuntu the Linux-based operating system on its phones.

Canonical has been developing a touchscreen version of their desktop Ubuntu operating system over the past couple of years and revealed the first of its new smartphone operating systems back in January of this year.

No Firefox OS Smartphones Launching In The US Says Mozilla

This weeks Mozilla’s Mitchell Baker has revealed that Mozilla has no current plans to launch their new Mozilla Firefox OS smartphone in the US in the near future. Explaining that they have created their smartphone to appeal more to developing countries.

This might come as a surprise to many as previous CEO Gary Kovacs explained during this years Mobile World Congress that Firefox OS phones would be arriving in the US on Sprint in 2014. Now it seems that Mozilla is moving away from this path.
