Toshiba LED Lightbulb

A new LED lightbulb is being released by Toshiba Lighting & Technology Corp with a total flux equivalent to that of a 60W incandescent lamp. Constructed from a lrage LED measuring 15x 15mm with fluxes of 810lm and 600lm. Currently there is  no other 8.7V LED light bulb that has a total flux of 810lm.

Mechanical Timer LED Light

This ambient LED light designed by Jasper Hou is powered by mechanical timer in the base. After giving the base a future in this the timer gradually releases its energy powering the LED light as it winds. This concept is at the moment I am sure would take off as it’s environmentally friendly and also safer than writing tea lights around your home. It comes in a variety of colours images after the jump.

The difference between LCD and LED TVs

If you’ve been wondering what the technical differences are between LCD and LED TVs then this info graphic from Sony which was sent to bloggers over at Gadgetlite could help and so all your questions.

LED TVs are technically a member of the LCD TV family. The display on a LED is a liquid crystal display the same as it is on any other LCD TV. The main difference between the two lies with different backlighting technology which can change the picture quality characteristics dramatically.

Printable Batteries

The main problem with batteries is that they are still too large, relatively heavy and expensive to produce. Which makes an impractical in many applications where size and weight ratio are important factors. Researchers at Fraunhofer research facility in Germany have developed a new ultra-thin and inexpensive battery which could help develop new applications and devices that require a light then and inexpensive battery.
