As you probably know by now, Yahoo! is undergoing a major overhaul. It’s cutting programs and acquiring companies left and right in order to stay up-to-date and relevant. As of August 24th, IQ Engines is the latest firm to be bought up by Yahoo!.
IQ Engines is a budding image recognition firm that used to offer its customers image recognition products to help them with various photography and image-based needs. Yahoo! has bought the company and added it to Flickr, its primary image and video hosting website. According to a letter left on the IQ Engines website, the company will focus on organizing Flickr’s massive photo collection and make it more accessible.
