Skype has announced that it is working on a new version of its iPhone application that will bring VoIP calls over 3G to the Apple iPhone.

Since the release of the latest iPhone SDK 3.2, which now allows VoIP calls over 3G, we have seen a number of companies announce that they intend to bring the feature to the iPhone and Skype is the latest one.

O2 Has Sold Over 2 Million iPhones In The UK

UK mobile phone operator O2, who has the exclusive contract to sell the Apple iPhone since it was launched in 2007, until recently, has announced that it has sold over two million iPhones in the UK.

According to O2 their iPhone sales are still very strong, even though you can now buy an Apple iPhone in the UK from other mobile phone operators like Vodafone and Orange, and even Tesco, although the Tesco contract is actually an O2 one.

Next Generation Apple iPhone, iPod Touch Spotted In iPhone SDK

The guys over at Engadget have spotted some new codenames in the latest Apple [AAPL]  iPhone SDK for a couple of new devices which could relate to the next generation of the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

The codenames were found in a set of folders within the platform simulator in the SDK, the codename N89 was spotted which according to Engadget refers to the next generation Apple iPhone.

The $95,000 iPod From Stuart Hughes

We have seen quite a few of Stuart Hughes’s creations here at Geeky Gadgets, the latest one is an iPod that is going to set you back a cool $95,000.

Although it is slightly cheaper than some of his creations, like the $3.2 million iPhone 3GS. The iPod SUPREME Rose Edition is covered in 263 grams of 18ct rose gold, and if that wasn’t enough for you it also features a platinum Apple logo which has 53 VVS1, color F diamonds.

Apple Updates iPhone OS To 3.1.3

Apple [AAPL] has updated its iPhone OS to a new version, 3.1.3, which is supposed to bring a number of fixes to the iPhone OS.

iPhone OS 3.1.3 contains a couple of bug fixes, one of which is improved battery level reporting, although we haven’t had a chance to test this one yet to see what difference it makes.

Is The Apple iPad The First In A Range Of Apple Tablets?

Since the Apple [AAPL] iPad was launched last week, we haven’t heard much in the form of Apple Tablet rumors, now Tech Crunch are reporting that the Apple iPad is just the first Apple Tablet and there with also be other versions available in the near future.

According to Tech Crunch Apple may also be working on a larger tablet, possibly a 15 inch version that will run a version of Mac OS X and will be more like an Apple Mac than the iPhone.

Chinese Tablet Maker Threatens To Sue Apple Over iPad

A Chinese PC maker, Shenzhen Great Loong Brother company,  is claiming that Apple [AAPL] has ripped off their design for the Apple iPad from a tablet they have been selling in China for the last six month, the P88.

As you can see from the photo of the P88 it looks like a giant iPhone, so did the Shenzhen Great Loong Brother company get their tablet design from the iPhone?

Apple iPad UK Availability Announced

When Apple [AAPL]  announced their new iPad we didn’t see anything on the UK Apple website until a couple of days later, now Apple has updated their site and confirmed when the iPad will be available in the UK.

Although Apple still hasn’t released any pricing information for the UK as yet, the iPad will probably be slightly more expensive in the UK. In the US the base model will retail for $499, this would translate to £315 at todays exchange rate, but the UK version will probably retail for around £399 for the base model.

New iPhone SDK 3.2 Now Allows VoIP Calls Over 3G

The latest version of the iPhone SDK has been released to developes, version 3.2. Whats interesting is that the latest version of the iPhone Software Development Kit now allows Voip calls over 3G.

Previously VoIP calls were limited to WiFi, which meant that you couldn’t make VoIP calls unless you were connected to WiFi, something which a lot of people have been unhappy about for some time.
