It is that time of year again. Time to deck the halls and wrap the gifts and listen to your favorite holiday music. Apple wants to supply some of that music this year and is actually giving away 8 songs as part of a Holiday Cheer playlist.
At its October 22nd event, Apple announced that the redesigned Mac Pro will hit the shelves in December, but didn’t give any exact launch date when customers can buy the upgraded Mac Pro. Now, according to a product listing on a German retailer’s website, the new Mac Pro is expected to go on sale starting December 17th.
This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the deal between Apple and China Mobile to sell the “forward-thinking” iPhone 5S to over 700 million subscribers. They began even before the announcement of the iPhone 5S, with latest one mentioning that China Mobile started taking pre-orders in selected cities in China, along with the launch of their 4G LTE services, which is going to happen on December 18th. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple struck a deal with China Mobile to sell iPhone 5S on its network starting December 18th.
Amazon has announced that their Amazon Cloud Player for iOS is now supported by connected vehicles from BMW and Mini, the feature will allow you to play music from your iPhone and iPod Touch through Amazon Cloud Player on supported vehicles.
The service is available on BMW and Mini connected vehicles from 2011 onwards, and it comes with a range of other features which you can see below.
Apple has been awarded a new patent for facial recognition technology by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with patent number 8,600,120.
The patent relates to a “Personal computing device control using face detection and recognition.”, and it is described as a three point system which is made up of a face detection application, a facial recognition application, and an input and output control application.
Last week we heard that Apple had purchased 3D sensing company PrimeSense, and now Apple has made another acquisition, this time it is social analytics firm Topsy.
The deal is said to be worth $200 million US dollars, the company is provided of analytics for the social web, specifically Twitter, and according to the WSJ, it is unlikely that the two companies would have agreed the deal without first getting some sort of agreement from Twitter.

Apple’s latest iPhone 5S has been selling well since it launched in September, and now according to a recent report, the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C grabbed a 76 percent share of Japan’s smartphone market for October.
The news comes from Kantar World Panel, who has said that Apple has a 61 percent share of all smartphone sales with mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo in Japan and a 76% share of the total smartphone market in Japan.
Back in 2011 a lawsuit was filed against Apple over the iPhone and iOS over privacy data, the lawsuit accused Apple of designing iOS to easily transmit information to third parties.
The lawsuit was brought against Apple by four people, who claimed that Apple have violated their privacy, and now Judge Lucy Koh has dismissed the case.
