Snapchat unveiled a new wearable device back in September called Snapchat Spectacles. They are glasses that can take Snaps. This way you can share your life on Snapchat easier, without having to use a phone.
Well Snapchat Spectacles are now available for purchase to anyone who needs to document their entire life. They are available today through some strange vending machines.
Just put these spectacles on and press a button so that it can record a 10-second video from a first-person point-of-view. Press that button again and it will record another video. These can be shared via the app to all your Snapchat buddies. They are actually a pair of functioning sunglasses as well so you get some eye protection too.
The company is calling the vending machines Snapbots, and they will travel across the United States to allow people to pay $130 for the glasses. Each Snapbot is going to be in a location for about a day. The first has been placed right outside Snapchat’s headquarters near Venice Beach in California. I’m sure there are many people who are willing to pay the price to take some snaps. We will have to see how well these do for Snapchat.
