What with all of the spying lately, mostly by the NSA, you can understand that some countries have expressed concern over using another country’s technology. Especially after the Edward Snowden leaks. If the NSA is spying on everyone, would you choose iPads or Samsung tablets for your country?
Russia has made a choice and they pick Samsung. The Russian government has reportedly stopped using iPads in an official capacity. According to the report by Business Insider, the Russian government has instead turned to Samsung tablets. These Samsung tablets are not your run of the mill ordinary Android tablets that you can purchase off the shelf. These are customized with extra security, probably using technology like Samsung’s Knox to help make the tablet more secure and private.
There was no reason given as to why the Russian government decided to make the switch, but like I said, with the NSA spying on everyone, it’s pretty obvious. It also may have to do with stopping support of American products following the sanctions imposed on Russia over the Ukrainian crisis. I wonder if other countries will follow suit.
