Matt Robison has created a new ferrofluid sculpture named RIZE which is now available to purchase and can take pride of place on your desktop in your home or office.
The unique spinning ferrofluid sculpture is now available to back with pledges starting from just $99 for Kickstarter early birds. The hand made artwork has been designed to create stunning visual displays using ferrofluid and directed magnetic fields.
Watch the video below to learn more about the shapes and sculptures the spinning RIZE ferrofluid sculpture can create.
The RIZE is a handmade art display that I created to showcase the amazing properties of ferrofluid, a strange black substance that was originally created by NASA as a prototype rocket fuel. It’s unique because it is reactive to magnetic forces so it could be drawn into the rocket engines in zero gravity using magnets. I sought to utilize these unique properties when designing the RIZE. The RIZE is activated when you place the sculpture onto its magnetic base.
The RIZE captivates childlike curiosity and amazement when people view it, and it makes for the ultimate distraction on your desk or centerpiece in your office. Even after interacting with these displays for years they still give me inspiration when I see them in action.
