Recycle your batteries
In the UK only 3% of batteries are recycled at the moment, the government wants to change this and has a target of 45% of new batteries to be recycled every year by 2016 with the launch of a new scheme called BatteryBack.

BatteryBack will be a nationwide battery collection and recycling service, that will aim to recycle all types of batteries from standard AA ones to mobile phone batteries, and recycling units will be placed in supermarkets to make it easy for consumers to recycle their batteries.
Battery recycling is becoming even more important especially as we are changing or portable electronics so often, like a new mobile phone every year or a new portable gaming console.

This might seem like a silly question, but… I collect my batteries to return all at once, AA, AAA, C D, etc… (even rechargeable) in a cardboard box under my sink. Is this an ok way to prevent from having to make multiple trips to the local recycle shop? (you know, safety, etc.) No kids, cats are that clever, blah blah. Oh and I’m a US cit, so laws may be diff.
I do prefer to recycle, but hate the hassle of up-down-up-down trips to the store that takes ‘em, so I figured, holding onto them until the box is full is a more convenient way and I’m still recycling them. Thoughts?

Hi the color
At the moment in the UK they don’t have places to recycle batteries at your local store etc, this is something they are introducing.
