Sony has been sharing some details about the new features that the upcoming firmware version 4.50 will bring to the PlayStation 4. It’s rolling out the beta version of the firmware to testers before Sony decides to release it to the public, but we can tell you about another new feature today.
Boost Mode for the PlayStation 4 Pro sounds pretty sweet. It will speed up older games on the console.
Boost Mode will allow those games to run faster and smoother on the most powerful PlayStation that Sony has released so far. Since PlayStation 4 Pro is compatible with all PS4 games, older titles will already perform better on it, but Sony has confirmed that the Boost Mode option will be exclusive to this more powerful console. Your old games will get an upgrade. The PS4 Pro will run at a higher GPU and CPU clock speed to improve the gameplay for some games that were released before the launch of the PS4 Pro.
“Games that have a variable frame rate may benefit from a higher frame rate, and load times may be shorter in some games too,” said a spokesperson for the company.
We don’t have more specifics about the feature, but we should learn more about it soon.
