Canadians, you’re doing it wrong. Game consoles are supposed to go down in price, not up. It looks like customers in Canada who waited to purchase a PS4, thinking that it would go down in price, are out of luck. Sony has confirmed that the PS4 price in Canada is being raised.
In fact, the new price is already in effect. The company hasn’t given a specific reason as to why the price is being raised, though it does state that this is being done to “respond to changes in the market environment”. Some believe that this is due to the weakening Canadian dollar, which has left Sony with no choice but to raise the price. That is probably the sole reason.
Sony has also decided to increase the price of PS4 Dualshock 4 controller as well as the PlayStation camera from CAD$59.99 to CAD$64.99. Canadians just can’t catch a break with Sony it seems. There are also price hikes for upcoming games for the console like MLB The Show ’14 and Infamous: Second Son. Both will now be sold for CAD$69.99, not the previous CAD $59.99. Hopefully those will be the only price hikes.
