We know that Sony is launching the PlayStation 4 this year, but as yet not release date or price has yet been announced.
But when the PlayStation 4 is launched it typically means that the PlayStation 4 console becomes available in one territory before another, as it makes it’s way around the world.
It looks like that will change with the PlayStation 4, if GameStop is to be believed. According to Mike Hogan, executive vice president of GameStop, Sony is planning a global launch for its next PlayStation 4 console. It would be nice for all the major territories to get it the same day, or at least the same week. I like the idea.
The claim was made during a GameStop earnings call, where he also pointed out they have no idea what Microsoft has planned. In fact we likely won’t know until E3, before it announces what the Xbox 720 is and when we can expect it.
If Sony can pull off a global PlayStation 4 launch like this, sales will be great. Ubisoft’s creative director Jean Guesdon has revealed that the launched of their new Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag game, and all versions of their new game would be launching at the same time in October 2013, hinting at a possible PlayStation 4 launch date.
