NPD’s latest monthly console sales numbers are in, but who won and by how much? Sony was the victor in terms of console sales, but Microsoft is close behind. The PlayStation 4 only passed the Xbox One by 10-percent.
The Wall Street Journal’s Ian Sherr sent out a tweet about the sales percentage difference between the two consoles. Sony didn’t waste any time bragging about it and announcing that “…PS4 is #1 again for the month, and cumulative sales, in the United States. Thanks for your support!”
Microsoft made a statement on the numbers as well, over on Xbox Wire, saying that when combining both Xbox 360 sales and Xbox One sales, its own platform sold the most hardware among home gaming consoles, with 43-percent of the market share. Last month alone, the company moved about 258,000 Xbox One consoles in the United States. So both companies have reason to brag. That’s good news for the consumer.
This past January, Microsoft’s total sales between both of their consoles gave it top spot, but the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console. With the launch of Titanfall, Microsoft might just gain the advantage in March. We will let you know.
