If you have been worried that always-online requirements might effect the new PlayStation 4 gaming console currently under final development by Sony.
You will be pleased to learn that Sony has officially and definitively announced that their PlayStation 4 console will not require an always-online connection.
Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, explained to the GameInformer magazine :
“The main reason being that many countries don’t have robust internet connections. It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust internet.”
When the PlayStation 4 console was first revealed Shuhei Yoshida explained back then that the console would not require always-online connectivity saying “oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally” – “You can play offline, but you may want to keep it connected.”Filed Under: Gaming News, Technology News, Top News
