It seems that today’s Apple special event could turn out to be quite interesting, as well some new iPods and a possible new Apple TV, it seems that Apple has signed a deal with a number of studios to allow $0.99 TV show rentals through iTunes.
According to the WSJ, both Fox and ABC have agreed to offer $0.99 TV show rentals through iTunes, which could see popular TV shows like Glee, Bones and Lie to Me being offered for the $0.99 rental price.

Today Target has announced that it will soon be selling Facebook Credits Gift Cards which makes it the first high street store to sell the product.
The Facebook Gift cards are expected to be available in values of $15, $25 and $50 and is an important move for the social networks virtual currency that it hopes will make up to one third of Facebooks revenue in the next year.

Swype a new method of inputting text on a touch screen device has now arrived on Symbian devices.
Swype allows you to enter a word by sliding your finger or stylus from letter to letter, you only lift your finger between words. It uses error correcting algorithms and a language model to guess the word intended. It allows users to input words faster and easier than other data input methods and user can reach speeds of over 40 words per minute. Check out the video after the jump.

Darpa’s has started a new security project that it hopes will stop the release of sensitive military documents to WikiLeaks or other foreign governments.
The new project named CINDER now has Peiter “Mudge” Zatko. One of the hackers of Boston’s L0pht collective, who famously told a congressional committee in 1998 that they could shut down the internet in 30 minutes. Who was hired in February this year.

The Motorola Defy is designed to be dust proof, water resistant, and it features a 3.7 inch WVGA display, plus a five megapixel camera with an LED flash, and comes with Motorola’s MotoBlur user interface (UI).

According to the FT, Sony is about to launch a new music service to take on Apple’s iTunes. If the rumor is correct, then we should hear something later today.
Apparently the service will revolve around Sony’s PS3 games console to start with, and it could then be rolled out to their range of Vaio computers and notebooks, as well as Bravia TVs and Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

The European version of the popular Motorola Droid 2 has just been announced, and just like the previous version it will be called the Motorola Milestone 2 in Europe.

In just afew hours Apple are holding their iPod music event where they will announced this years range of iPods. One thing we have been hearing about for some time is that Apple intends to inject some life back into their Apple TV, with a new cheaper model that may be unveiled today.
Bloomberg are reporting that the new Apple TV will include movie streaming from Netflix, and users would pay a subscription fee to Netflix to use the streaming service.

Epson has launched two new HD video projectors at IFA 2010, the Epson EH-R4000 and the Epson EH-R2000, both models make use of Epson’s new 3LCD Reflective technology which is designed to bring improvements in contrast ratios and picture quality.
The Epson EH-R4000 features a contrast ration of 1,000,000:1 whilst the EH-RE2000 features a contrast ratio of 500,000:1, and both models feature a motorized zoom lens.
