We’ve seen some leaked pictures of the upcoming Nokia Lumia 929 for Verizon, so we have a general idea what to expect specs-wise. However, one thing we didn’t know was what the codename for the next Windows Phone flagship for Verizon would be. Well, now we know. The codename for the device is “Icon”. This info comes from prolific leaker Evleaks. Is there anything he hasn’t leaked?
We don’t know exactly when the Lumia 929 is going to hit Verizon, but we know that the device is going to be a “GDR3” update to the current Nokia Lumia 928. That means that the hardware is getting bumped up to the levels supported by the Windows Phone GDR3 update: a Snapdragon 800 processor and a 5-inch 1080p display. The device is also expected to have a 20MP camera similar to the one on the Lumia 1520, and 2GB of RAM.
We are pretty sure we can expect it to hit store shelves before Christmas, because they certainly would want some holiday sales. Several release dates have been rumored, but none of them have panned out, so it is anyone’s guess. We will have to wait and see.
