Mystery Blank Key on Apple iPad Keyboard Dock

An eagle eyed member of the Mac Rumours website Macduke has spotted that there is a blank key on Apples new iPad keyboard dock.

Right in the middle above the number 6 key there is a blank key. Speculation is rife as to what this will become when launched.

Macduke thinks the blank button maybe for a Mac style dashboard. Others think maybe for the camera that is still to be added or a customisable key. The iPad already has a music playback button,screen brightness, a dedicated home button, a key to start a photo slideshow and a search key

What are your thoughts on the use for this mysterious blank key?

It’s not unusual. My MacBook’s F5 and F6 keys have no image on them to denote function, and they are in exactly the same place as the blank in the picture here. Presumably it’s just to make everything symmetrical.
