Monsterpod Tripod
Here’s a useful accessory for all the photography geeks out there, the Monsterpod Tripod, which is designed to stick to virtually any surface.
The Monsterpod is a Viscoelastic Polymer-based tripod (I think that means sticky), which can stick to over 1,000 surfaces, including brick walls, wire fences, glass windows, street lamps, and lots more.

What this means is that you can place your camera in virtually any position you want, be it upside down, sideways stuck to the side of a wall, and it will take cameras up to 20 ounces.

If you want one of these Monster tripods they are available for $30 each from Photojojo.

that’s putting a lot of trust in the tripod to hold your camera on a vertical surface like that.

Hi Jeff
I am not sure if I would trust it with my camera without some super glue
it does look impressive from the photos though.

It looks fake since the surface is so rough to allow something to ’stick’ to it.
But if it can really stick on any surface, this tripod is something that will worth the price!

I would maybe trust my sony point & click on this but as for the canon dslr, forget it, no way.

But wait! There’s more! Order in the next 20 minutes… Yeah, duct tape does this exact same thing.

it says that it only holds up to 20 ounce cameras so i dont find it that hard to believe but the”sticky” tech is pretty cool i wonder if its the nano stuff modeled after gecko feet

Either Gizmodo or Engadget reviewed one of these a while back. They were not impressed. It fell off of smooth surfaces with ease, and the only surface they could get it it to stick to reliably (a tree) left bits of bark in the gooey surface that is the “magic” of this device, suggesting it would wear out over time from continuous use. So unless this is a new version with a drastically improved material, I think I’ll stick to my GorillaPod.

Viscoelastic doesn’t mean sticky. It just means the polymer has a solid and fluid phase which give it particular stress-strain properties. It’s quite interesting, look it up.
