Microsoft Launches First Google Android App – Microsoft Tag Reader

Microsoft [MSFT] has launched its first mobile application on Google’s [GOOG] Android platform, called Microsoft Tag Reader. The Microsoft Tag reader application for Android is similar to other versions on other platforms.

It works by using your mobile phones camera to scan bar-codes which are found on various products, the application then provides you with information, videos, promotions and exclusive offers for that particular product directly to your Google Android handset.

This is probably the first of many applications from Microsoft for Google’s Android platform, we will probably see a Bing application next, which the currently have available on the Apple iPhone.

The Microsoft Tag reader Android App is available as a free download from the  Android Marketplace.
