Hey I personally think that Microsoft is doing something bold and admirable here. They produce a product under a specific terms of use policy, which every XBOX LIVE user must agree to in order to participate in their online gaming community. If you can’t play by the rules, don’t be surprised if you aren’t allowed to play at all.

LOL we have already found away to play modded boxes online again with out being detected. You have to have the new version of the lite on cd rom. You still have the flash the firmaware but the trick is in the way the rom reads the disc. Xbox is dumb all it makes us do when we get banned is buy and switch internals and return 2 walmart lol. We want free we get free! Also to all the fags saying PS3 is good lala I mod them 2 bitch and have external hard drives filled with the shit games they offer…

Well come time for next gen consoles consumers will just go to the company that DOESN’T ban them. So Microsoft has went from losing money from people who bought xbox’s and modded them to people just flat out NOT BUYING XBOX’s Period.

Lastly, even if you bought a game 100% legit are you going to complain if your getting a constant good amount of people playing online? NO if anything its just helping out the online community.

It’s just like if you own a restaurant and you don’t like Joe Mama from down the road. You are free to kick his butt out of your restaurant.

“If you pay for a service then the company thats supplying that service stops … what ever reason is in breach of contract and should refund all monies owing” – When you sign up for X-Box Live, you agree pay them money in exchange for utilization of their service. They agree to allow you to use the service so long as you follow the rules of that service. The person who breaks the rules (violates the TOS) is the one who breaches the contract.

they arent banning the modded 360s because of game back ups you idiots. the whole reason for bannig modded systems is because of the fact you are able to cheat on online games. for example playing halo you can make other players lag or even keep ur health from going down. or in sports games like nba live you can make any player you want unstoppable where they wont miss a shot. it keeps people from cheating n havin a fair online expierence.

They should make it so that you can back up a game if you enter in a unique product key and register it on the internet. This is important because the 360 has a major design flaw that can cause discs to gain a circular scatch along the outer rim making the disc unusable if its in use for too long before turning off the console- yes, forgetting to turn off the console can cause damage to your disc if you are the unlucky guy with one (this has happened to me, with games that work perfectly when I put them in, but later get a scratch, despite the fact that I have not taken out the disc since, and hence it must be the console. This happened with Halo 3 and my new Assassin’s Creed 2 game. Fortunatly, the discs were still repairable at blockbuster’s disc repair machine however, if the console is upright the scratch happens faster and deeper and can quickly become unrepairable.

I mean XBOX live gives back info of wht kind that allows microsoft to know if somebody has a modded console? I am preety damn sure no one agreed on having softwre on his console that actually dedtects hardware changes or god knows what else? for example dvd playback data or game time …

I have a real problem with all this banning bullshit. I have a legal right to make backups of my games , which I purchased, in order to protect my investment and my 360 has to be modded to play the backup disks.I have young children in the house and you try and keep a disk clean and scratch free in a house with kids. Now I don’t agree that even though I pay for games regularly, and pay for live, that I should have to buy 2 xbox 360′s just to get online and be able to play backups. Come on Bill Gates share the f##king wealth will ya, B#tch

i have no choice. i must mod my console if i wish to continue to use my 360. i live in thailand. original copies of games are not sold here. its not thailand’s fault. its microsoft.

hell, i guess its a moot point anyway….. xbox live isnt even available here. so i guess it really doesnt matter if they ban me or not…. had to cancel my account before my flight.

normally, i wouldn’t even think about using a modded console. but i’m about to get mine chipped. i live in thailand, and it is the only way to get games here, other than pay out the ass for games and international shipping……

whether they ban me from live or not is really a moot point though. i had to cancel my live subscription before moving here…. since xbox 360 has not been released in thailand, xbox live is not even available here.

basically, microsoft has given me no choice…. if i want to keep using my 360 and play new games, i must get the chip.

Microsoft states in theirs terms that you will not modify your xbox because you would have the ability to make pirated copies. And we all know that no one gets a modded 360 to back up their games. You get it to play a bunch of free games you never paid for. So I say serves them right.

i would like to add to this..i agree that they maybe judging us gamers to hard. i will say that there is a lot of out there that bootleg our games, movies, and music and there is no crime in making a backup of your own product. What i am getting at here is unless it breaks the law to mod your console and to make a backup of your own game then what right does Microsoft have to ban the console from live. Although it is against the TOS and I don’t mod myself I see this as Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot. I mean not all that mod their Xbox is committed piracy. You are alienating customers that are paying for a service (gold accounts).
