The Local, or universal Search feature found in the Galaxy S III has been the subject of legal attack by Apple in the U.S. Apple accused Samsung of infringing on one of its patents with it. And that’s why Samsung had to issue a Galaxy S III software update recently, which removed the functionality from the U.S. versions of the smartphone.
However, the update also brought a number of system stability fixes with it, and so it was also rolled out to the international version of the GS III. The thing is, no one got rid of the “remove local search feature” effect of the update, so international users quickly found out that their devices also lacked the function after the update.
Samsung is aware of the mistake and has promised that a fix will be coming in a few days.
