LG has just announced the Optimus L9 as a followup to the Optimus L3, L5 and L7 handsets. It looks like the L9 will be the leader of the pack, since it features both a dual-core 1GHz CPU and a large, 4.7-inch IPS display. The phone will also have Android 4.0, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2,150mAh battery.
Sounds good already. New software will also ship with the Optimus L9, in the form of a redesigned keyboard and a language translation app. The new keyboard is called the My Style Keypad, which allows you to adjust the key placement for easier one-handed typing and a separated layout in landscape view.
The language translation service is called QTranslator, which uses OCR to translate sentences and phrases from 44 different languages into 64 native languages. Nothing on pricing or availability yet.
