If you like limited edition cameras, this one will be right up your alley. Leica has announced the Leica X Edition Moncler camera. This camera is based on the Leica X (type 113) model and there will only be 1,500 units of the camera made. Yep. That’s pretty limited. So it should be pretty expensive as well.
This camera was designed with Moncler, a French fashion brand in case you didn’t know, which explains the French flag and color design motif. For example, those colored stripes are made from premium leather, which should appeal to fashion forward camera users. It certainly looks nice and stylish.
We can’t give you a price because sadly, pricing for the Leica X Edition Moncler was not mentioned in the press release, but I think it’s safe to say that it will be fashionably expensive. This is not a camera for anyone on a budget. It’s for users who like to collect cameras as luxury items. Those photographers who fall into that category can look forward to a 16.5 APS-C CMOS sensor with a Summilux 23mm f/1.7 ASPH lens. The normal Leica X (type 113) is around $2,295, so the Moncler edition will likely be about the same or higher.
