If we can believe a Microsoft job posting, we should get a new by at least March 2014. When it arrives, it will bring with it a new version of the Kinect motion sensor. Xbox 720 development kits are already said to be in the hands of key developers. Those kits also include Kinect 2 prototype units, which allow Kinect functionality to be worked with and included in launch titles.
So now an image claiming to be from the Kinect 2 has surfaced from Twitter user DaE whose profile simply says he’s a system admin. There has been no other info from him since. However, The Verge has confirmed that this is in fact a test image from the Kinect 2 hardware and we have some interesting details.
It looks like it has more detail and depth and of course it should be more accurate, to where it can read lips and gauge moods, and now we have evidence to show that it is. Apparently even individual fingers can be detected very accurately by the sensor. That should make for some interesting games.
