Audio manufacturer JBL has rolled out a new set of USB-powered speakers for computer users in Japan. The speakers are called the JBL Pebbles and as of now Japan is the location we know for sure that will get speaker system. The Snail-like design of the speakers comes from the ability to lay the speaker on its side or stand them up on the flat bottom.
The speaker support 16-bit 48 kHz audio and feature 50 mm drivers. Some of the space inside the speaker case is also used to enhance bass. The speaker gets all the power it needs to operate from the USB port on a computer.
Rather than using USB to get the audio connection as well, the speakers do require a 3.5 mm connection. That should mean you can playback music any 3.5 mm device as long as you have USB port handy. The speakers reportedly sell for about $60 in Japan.
