iBeer developer sues iPint developer for $12.5 Million
The developers of the paid iBeer iPhone app are taking legal action against the developers of the free iPint applications (Coors in the US and Carling in the UK).
The original iBeer application was developed and then released on the iPhone App store before the sponsored version from the Alcohol manufacturer Coors/Carling, the free iPint application has since be removed from the iPhone App store in the US, but it is still available on the UK and other countries.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out and could mean other application developers suing companies who have released free sponsored apps as a means of advertising, where the apps are similar to paid apps released by iPhone App developers.
