Rumors have been spreading that Valve has been working on Half-Life 3 and it seemed that many signs pointed to this being true, but it looks like that might not be the case. According to actor John Patrick Lowrie, Half-Life 3 is currently not being worked on.
Lowrie has been a part of many of Valve’s games as a voice actor: Like Half-Life 2 and DotA 2, so he might know what he’s talking about. According to Lowrie, Valve isn’t even working on the game right now. Lowrie says that one of the reasons Half-Life 3 isn’t being worked on is due to motion capture, which he claims does not work that well with video games yet.
He claims that motion capture translates better to movies where there is no interaction from the audience, “when you make something interactive it gets way less interactive with mo-cap. So that’s one of the things they’re working on.” Still, he may not be privy to everything, so who knows? Maybe they are working on it. We hope so. But it doesn’t look good.
