Green House’s lantern runs on salt and water to power your gadgets

Japanese company Green House’s latest device is an interesting one. It’s the GH-LED10WBW, an LED lantern that runs on just water and salt. That’s right. No batteries required here.

The light source gives you eight hours of electricity per dose of saline water, and the lantern even comes with a dedicated water bag for mixing the solution. Users can get about 120 hours of power with the Mg rod inside before they’ll need to buy a replacement.

Aside from acting as a battery-free source of light, the lantern can also act as a charger, thanks to that USB port built into it. Nothing on price yet, but the GH-LED10WBW will be available by mid-September if you are interested.
