It plugs into your USB port and the built in software lets you encrypt the data on your PC or Laptop, as soon as you unplug the key from your PC or Laptop the data is inaccessible.

Insert the GoldKey into your computer. The small amount of onboard storage launches the encrypted-volume manager and shows all the encrypted volumes available. You can click on one of those volumes and decrypt it, or select files on your own file systems to add to a new encrypted volume. Pull the GoldKey out, and those files automatically lock. What if you lose your GoldKey? If you also purchase a Goldkey “Master Key,” you can effectively create a backup locking system. The Master Key can duplicate the ability of your Goldkey to another. Use your GoldKey everyday, and should you ever lose it, the Master can reset a new Goldkey to operate with the same keys as your old Goldkey. You can also use the Master Key to create a group of Goldkeys that can all unlock each others’ files.
